"I enjoy experimenting with form and surface"

I enjoy experimenting with form and surface and most of my work is handbuilt. I am inspired by abstract forms in the natural world and love spiral shapes such as ammonites and Maori jewellery. I also like making large coiled bottles and seed forms. Naked raku is my preferred medium but, during COVID, I have temporarily stopped doing smoke firing. This means that I have been experimenting with a range of different forms and finishing techniques. I am particularly enjoying carving clay forms and have been especially inspired by Wendy Lawrence demonstrations and workshops.

I am still learning all the time. I very much enjoy working with other potters in my own studio and in workshops, pottery events and on the WPA committee. There is always so much we learn from each other.

I currently lead the WPA team which organises our Activities programme and am constantly delighted by the variety and richness of the pottery which colleagues and our contributors make.
