"Tell a story of fragility and strength, light and shadow in decorative and functional ware"

Two years ago, I took early retirement from the NHS from my chosen career as a nurse and midwife after 37 years, to go to Cardiff Met University to study Ceramics, hoping to graduate in 2021. My lifelong love of clay was rekindled when returning to weekly pottery classes in 2012. My love of clays and glazes, developing skills, fascination with natural and geometric shapes, combine to tell a story of fragility and strength, light and shadow in decorative and functional ware. I use a variety of clays, temperatures, techniques which are mainly throwing, coiling and slab use, with coloured slips and glazes, depending on the narrative or concepts within each piece or collection. I am on an exciting journey and enjoy diversity within my core ideas and values, and am fortunate to have had my own studio for several years.
