"Figurative, exploring narrative through myth"

I’m a Devon based Ceramic artist. I studied at Cardiff, gaining a BA in Ceramics. My work has always been figurative, exploring narrative through myth. Touching on issues surrounding the human body, particularly the female body.I’ve always used porcelain and am drawn to the qualities it has to offer, imbuing my work with its own story as a medium moving from the Orient to England. As a person of dual heritage, I explore the tradition of cross pollinating ideas, forms & motifs to reinterpret them through my perspective. All work is hand-built using slabs of clay, formed by pushing and manipulating from the inside where texture is created and is inherent to the process. This texture is emphasised in glazing by using body stains and oxides with touches of lustre.
