I am a ceramic Artist. My work explores the connection between people and the landscape, the relationships we form with the natural world and how we develop bonds with places that hold significant meaning to us. I make thrown and hand built clay vessels which are embedded with natural materials sourced from along rivers, beaches, woodlands and moorlands in Devon. These materials are blended into coils of clay, which are joined together in layers , then scraped back to form pots which represent the landscape from which they came. Some unfired vessels are returned back to the place where their materials were gathered and left to be reabsorbed back into nature, completing a cycle of life.
