About Jacky Duncan

WPA

I studied Fine Art at Falmouth and Exeter Colleges of Art, specialising in Sculpture. After some years teaching in schools and colleges, I began making garden pots while gaining experience in making and firing techniques.
The pots are coiled and thrown on the wheel using heavily grogged terracotta clay. They are fired in a simple 120 cubic foot wood fired kiln to 1100┬░Centigrade plus, using waste wood from a local timber yard. The pots are unglazed, relying on the random passage of flames through the kiln to give varied flashes of colour. They are frost resistant and range in size from 20cm to 60 cm.
