About Jasmin Velasco

WPA

Jazmín Velasco-Moore

I work with both white and terracotta earthenware, to model figurines and cut tiles, illustrating my fascination with English history and folklore.

I am constantly researching and finding new ideas to feed my need to create tridimensional objects, reflecting daily life observations through drawing on a surface, just as my Mexican ancestors did.
Thus, my inspiration is widespread, in animals, human behaviour, prehispanic art, celtic art, the countryside, legends from all over the world, children’s art and the art of Paul Klee. Also I am influenced by studying world art, including that of the Romans, Egyptians, Chinese and Japanese, etc.
