Based in North Devon, I have been a full-time potter since 2008.
My current work is motivated by textures and colours, inspired by nature in and around the beautiful North Devon coastline and rural countryside. The tactile nature of this range of work allows the form to invite the glazes to pool and run into the dips and crevices of the textured exterior. By contrast, the interiors are smooth with a matt or satin finish.
I offer a makerspace to beginners, hobbyists and developing potters at my studio. I tutor recreational classes in throwing and hand-building skills. I get great pleasure from knowing that several students have gone on to develop their own studios and sell their work. We continue to meet occasionally to share ideas and hold pit firing evenings!
This learning environment allows me to continually learn, develop and try new ideas alongside developing a range of work to exhibit.
