About Kim Langley

WPA

Ceramics formed from the heart, food for the soul. That is the description that describes my work and its evolution over the years. Clay has a sensual feel when thrown on the whee or built by handl, every piece is quite unique from the way it has been formed. I make tactile forms which are both artistic and sometimes functional. My work is usually in stoneware and I use both an electric and raku kilns in the production of my ceramics. By using oxides and glazes I give my piece’s dramatic flair. I also fire my photography art onto some ceramic pieces, which means pots may be fired up to four times. I experiment with old and new techniques to find balance which creates a beautiful form.

Stoneware pieces are fired to 1280 degrees and are food safe. Raku Pieces are fired around 1000 degrees and are more decorative ceramic pieces.

My work is shown in galleries locally and nationally.
