About Neil Johnson

WPA

Neil Johnson has been making pottery on a part-time basis for many years now. In 1971, Neil studied glass and ceramics at Exeter College of Art and Design; followed by a year studying studio pottery. He also worked at Dartington Glass as an apprentice.

Since 1975 he has been making domestic stoneware; including mugs, bowls, plates, teapots, jugs, woven clay baskets, oil decanters and casseroles in my studio in my garden in Exeter. Other work includes glass fusion, mosaics and a combination of thrown pieces, slab and applied clay to make unusual sculptural forms. He also makes work for commissions (please ask shop owner).

Some of his recent work is influenced by his love of the sea and he enjoys working with colour to add a twist to what are domestic, but functional items; as seen in his recent cream pottery with coloured spots.
