"Real Flowers in Clay"

My work features real flower and plant imprints in white earthenware clay, sourced from the hedgerows and gardens in the surrounding Somerset area where I live.

The plants and flowers are allowed to fall naturally onto the clay where their imprints are captured, and the slabs made into functional ceramics, predominantly vases and bowls.

Each piece is carefully hand painted as close to the colours of nature using ceramic underglazes, then fired and finally finished with a clear glaze.

As the flowers are sourced throughout the year, my work features a display of the changing seasons of the Somerset countryside from the snowdrops of early spring, through delicate buttercups to the robust holly of winter.
