"Nature is my constant inspiration"

As I come towards the end of a three year BA (Hons) degree at Plymouth College of Art specialising in ceramics, my work is still evolving and refining. Nature is my constant inspiration, especially the landscape, hedgerows, cliffs and beaches near to the River Teign where I regularly walk and explore.
I work mainly with slip cast porcelain, coloured slips and glazes: more recently I have been experimenting with paper clay forms, oxides and inclusions found during my wanderings. I am constantly excited by and drawn to what many perceive to be nature’s imperfections and try to communicate my vision of perfection and beauty in form, surface texture and decoration. I hope to expand my practice to include thrown work when I am less constrained by study and am looking forward to the adventure of being a free practitioner.
