About Paul Reap

WPA

I have a passion to be creative. My sculptures are an extension of myself and thus a form of self expression. I am influenced and inspired by everyday events. I seek to capture these everyday life experiences and situations through ceramics. I enjoy exploring the relationships between ordinary people through my work.

I work with clay because of its versatility. I enjoy the challenge of breathing life into inert pieces of clay. I start a sculpture by having an idea that often changes and evolves as my work progresses. I want people to think that my figures have movement and I express people’s relationships through this movement.

I make rolled pottery figurines. It is important to me to get as much movement as possible into the pieces and I have found that the technique of rolling clay enables my figures to be fluid and mobile. All pieces are individually hand made and each piece is unique.
