About Sandy Budden-Hoskins

WPA

My work is about bringing my knowledge of indigenous and archaeological pottery together with contemporary pottery practice.

I hand-build my pots using the traditional techniques of coiling, slab building; and the dying technique of paddle and anvil. I love the skill base involved in using these techniques.

My pots are decorated using a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques, and some are gilded with pure silver or gold. I blend clays by hand and fire my pots to c. 1100c in my wood fired kiln. Unless gilded my pots are frost proof and safe to place in a garden setting. All my pots are one offs and come with an explanation of the pots unique background story. I am happy to make bespoke work.
