Observations inspired by nature are the key elements in my work. Tranquility is found in simple pleasures - flowing water, Curlew songs, moorlands and rock pools. |

My individual sculptural vessels reflect my fascination with the ability of clay to imitate other materials. My creative ideas come from many sources, ranging from natural forms such as boulders and other rock formations to engineered objects. I enjoy contrasts, incongruity and unexpected juxtapositions in both surface texture and form. I believe that balance and harmony are qualities which are as important in ceramic art as in life. |

My figurative ceramics are at present based around an exploration of the complexities of human communication. All pieces ar e individually hand-modelled using Earthstone ST clay. They are fired initially to 1060 o C and then finished with a mixture of oxides, underglaze colours and a transparent earthenware glaze. The final firing is to 1080oC Some pieces are sited on wooden bases secured in place with a metal rod , fixed with an epoxy resin. |

My discovery of clay was late in life and has resulted in an obsessive compulsion with this fascinating medium. Wall assembled pieces and sculpture are the momentary focus |
