Adrian Bates. Presentation and demonstration

WPA

Venue: Cossington Village Hall, Trivetts Way, Cossington, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA7 8JN
Date: Saturday 7th December. 11.00 am to 4.00 pm approx.

Adrian has very kindly agreed to be our demonstrator for the last Association activity of 2019 and I can’t think of a better way to round off the year and leave us inspired for our pottery in 2020.
Adrian is, above all, an outstanding maker of handbuilt ceramic sculptures. All his pieces have a wonderful, sensuous presence with their curved, fine surfaces and intriguing shapes some of which, like his Mobius loops, seem to defy logic and geometry. His work is justifiably gaining national recognition and being collected.

Many members will know Adrian as a very active committee member, particularly as our recently retired magazine editor where his use of his visual flair and publishing skills led to the development of our superb magazine. You may also have had a brief taste of him demonstrating at last year’s Clayfest. If you did, you will know that he is an excellent demonstrator with a warm, friendly manner and great command of his subject. He organises demonstrations very well so we are taken logically through the many steps in creating his unique work

Personally, I can’t wait to see more of him producing his work and hope to learn just a few more skills and ideas to put into practice myself.

More details of Adrian’s methods and inspiration are available in the September edition of the Association magazine.
