Paul Wearing Demonstration

Saturday 12th November 2016
10.30 for 11am start, till 4pm
Cossington Village Hall
Trivetts Way

This was an exciting opportunity for WPA members to see firsthand the lively glazework and multilayered ceramics of Paul Wearing, whose sublime pots are well known on the professional circuit. His work features on the cover of WPA NL 142 and an article by John Watson on page 15, including Paul’s own photographs. Paul’s website includes a 4 minute video, ‘Order and Chaos’, with a statement on his working practice, which is fascinating to watch. This was a great chance to see and meet a wonderful practitioner.

We met at the beautiful Cossington village hall and had a good turnout of potters to hear Paul speak honestly and directly about his life journey and how pottery continues to be at the forefront of his work. A detailed demonstration of his coiling and press moulding method of producing a vessel, was followed by a demonstration of his glazing techniques, combined with a lively question and answer session. Thanks to John Watson and Karen Edwards for organising the venue and the day’s events, plus Adrian Bates, Tony Smither, Barry Boffy and David Chilton for the photographs, videoing and writeup.

Acknowledgements to Paul Wearing for these photographs
