WPA Response to the Covid-19 epidemic

In common with so many other organisations we have been reflecting on the most recent official guidance and taking often difficult decisions in response. We have already cancelled our AGM and Craig’s demonstration, hopefully to be rearranged for later this year. Unfortunately we also have no option but to announce that we are cancelling all events scheduled to take place between now and the end of June. This means that the Arwyn Jones studio visit and the Jeremy James demonstration will not now take place; those who have booked and paid will have their payments refunded. We very much hope to rearrange both events for some future dates, but due to all the uncertainty we are not in a position to confirm when this might be possible.
The Craft Festival in Bovey Tracey has been postponed until 11-13 September and we will publish a revised application timetable probably in the next edition of the Magazine; existing applications will be kept on file so there will be no need to reapply.
It is so difficult to predict how things may develop that we cannot speculate on the situation regarding events from July onwards. We will keep everyone informed as things become clearer and our plans develop. I would like to thank everyone for being so understanding as we have taken these decisions.
This is a very difficult time for so many and it will be a while before the full consequences emerge. One thing already clear is that many of you will have lost sales opportunities and teaching income and, whilst inconsequential compared to the health of yourself and your families, it can be difficult to see any positives. Please remember that many members are in a similar situation and we should all be keen to share our experiences and how we are coping on a day to day basis.
We have another edition of the Magazine due for publication during April for May distribution and it would be wonderful to see some inspirational and informative articles and photographs which might generate food for thought and lift our spirits. I’m sure that Bindy would love to receive your copy.
In the meantime please stay safe and follow the official guidance so that we can bounce back with our creative juices flowing again.
